Workhub for creative home-workers near Middlesbrough

26th August 2010

News Story

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council is contributing to the emergence of flexible workspaces through an exciting new development.  Creative Green Workspace,  which will involve the redevelopment of two historic buildings just off Normanby Road, will provide a space for small businesses, and in particular people who wish to combine working from their own homes with occasional use of external workspace that's suitable for meeting with customers as well as connecting with other like-minded people.  The Council hopes that this will stimulate new collaborations and support networks to emerge particularly within the creative sector, and is keen for anyone who's keen to find out more about the facility to get in touch

The new development will aim to provide everything required to support flexible working, including virtual office hot-desking, WiFi, professional printing and copying services, workspace and meeting rooms.  As well as supporting the growing home-based creative sector, it is hoped that Creative Green Workspace will also provide a local base for employees of large regional knowledge-based businesses who are able to work remotely (also known as homeshoring).  Download an artist's impression of the planned development below.

The location has good access to the A66 and Middlesbrough, and is part of the wider redevelopment of the area which has started with the construction of an Eco Village which will bring new housing designed to the highest environmental standard.  The building will also have a public cafe and market that provides a showcase for businesses.

Anyone who's looking for flexible workspace in the Middlesbrough area, or who's interested in finding out more, can email creativegreenworkspace@bowmansolutions.biz to register their interest.

WITHOUT SPACE ON TAP I NEVER WOULD HAVE KNOWN IT WAS THERE!

    Karen James, Cloud VA

As I work from home I often need to find suitable venues to have meetings with clients.

Recently I needed somewhere in the Gateshead area where a client and I could have a business chat and a coffee, and neither of us could think of anywhere until someone pointed me in the direction of the Space on Tap website. The site was very easy to use and through it I found Cafe Eight, a fantastic little cafe opposite the Civic Centre in Gateshead. Ideal for public transport and parking wasn't that difficult to find. I've used Cafe Eight for client meetings on several occasions now and will continue to recommend it to people.

Without Space on Tap I would never have known it was there!
